TRAINING FOR TEACHERS Creative Classrooms
Creative Classrooms offers in-service workshops and courses to teachers throughout the Northeast.
Master's Degree Program:
Lesley University of Cambridge Mass. offers a two-year program at Walnut Hill leading to a Masters Degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction With a Specialization In Teaching Through the Arts from the Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences.This 33-credit program involves 11 courses related to arts in education. Students learn that all of the arts music, drama, storytelling, movement, fine arts, poetry are tools that can enhance learning in the classroom.
Each three-credit course takes place during two weekends (Friday evening, 5-10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) with about four weeks between the weekends.
The program combines theory about arts-based education, multiple intelligence and Myers-Briggs personality theory with practical applicable ideas for the classroom.
Students accepted in this off-campus program have the same rights, privileges and obligations as on-campus Graduate School students. They are assigned academic and program advisors and may apply for financial aid.
We are now accepting applications for our next cycle tentatively scheduled to begin in November 2007. Lesley University MEd cycles are anticipated to begin in November of each year. Final Project Display
This unique and educational display showcases the final theses projects for the Lesley program. Projects are a mix of curriculum and personal projects that demonstrate the incorporation of theory and practice.Final displays are open to the public and provide prospective students an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the Integrated Teaching Through the Arts Program. It also provides teachers an opportunity to get new ideas and lessons.
People viewing the display are encouraged to bring notebooks to capture new and exciting ideas that can be used in the classroom.
